read this... http://demrepubnepal.blogspot.com/2006/04/aire-gaire-natthu-khaire-pahadis.html also: http://sebsonline.org/forum/forum_view.aspx?F=1&T=71657 as we have seen in the other forum "Bhagat goes crazy" and his own blog... paramendra is trying to spread hatred among the nepalese people...at a time when we should unite and fight as a united force, he is trying to break the country apart along ethnic lines.... so hereby I call upon a social boycott of his blog which is his instrument to spread hatred and antagonism among nepalese brothers and sisters.....I request upon all of you to boycott his propaganda machine which he is using to spread hatred as well as to advertise his own "importance"

What exactly is democracy? I am all for DEFENDING Paramendra's right to free speech without necessarily agreeing with the CONTENT of his speech. There is a distinction there, please take note. So long as Paramendra does not instigate violence or does not get involved in acts of physical violence with others over his political beliefs and takes full responsibility for his speech, he is welcome to say anything he wants to his heart's content. And just because he says something brilliant or stupid, that NEVER means that his voice has to be heard and acknowledged by all. In other words, defending Paramendra’s freedom of speech means that his right to speech should be guaranteed, NOT his right to be heard too. He has to earn that (second) right by himself. True, some people – with their sophisticated sense of gentility -- might get offended by what Bhagat has to say. If so, the solution for them is to STOP visiting his blog. After all, Bhagat's blog is NOT the only one out there. Personally, as a democrat, I am more offended to see some people always ganging up on Bhagat and even going to the extent of boycotting him than by anything Bhagat posts on his blog (which, I find, both entertaining and informative). The guy is obviously very smart. Writes well. Argues well. Is fiercely passionate about what he believes in. And does NOT conform to your typically safe and heart-warming "Nepali success story" of any sort. How refreshing! And if you shrug off his bundle of self-referential remarks, I think he is saying things that are worth debating about – even when you do not agree with them. And so -- as a Pahadia bahun -- I say: keep it up, Paramendra: keep up your participation in this marketplace of ideas with all its attendant rewards and risks. oohi ashu

what exactly does Bhagat do? There are a lot of other Madhesi successful people who can lend credibility to Madhesi movement. Successful entrepreneurs, doctors (may be half of Nepal Medical Association main executives are Madhesi) engineers etc. So I suggest Bhagat to first be successful in his field, acadamic work or whatever it is that he is doing, and then lead his people to prosperity. It is probably your creative time, and so spend it honing your skill, rather than being a destructive propaganda man. goodluck.

indeed he has a right to write anything he wants... and i completely respect his right to free speech...but the only way to silence his racial and ethnic hatred is to let his know that we as brothers and sisters of nepal are not willing to listen to the hatred that he is trying to spread...jaya nepal

Pilot, Your point would have been valid if Bhagat had FORCED you to listen to or read his rantings. His blog, if you wish, can be safely ignored. His emails, if you wish, can be safely deleted. So long as we do not live in a Bhagat-only world, what really is the problem, except, perhaps our own sense of annoyance/irritation/frustration/anger over his over-zealous defense of Madhesi causes? Just as Miss Nepals' wearing bikinis do NOT destroy Nepali cultures, Bhagat's pro-Madhesi postings -- no matter how radical -- too do NOT destroy Nepali unity. Let's have more faith in our collective strength. *** Of course, one may not like Bhagat personally for whatever reasons. That's fine. But just because one dislikes Bhagat (for whatever reasons), that does NOT mean that Bhagat needs to be silenced or boycotted or ostracized. Let him have his say. If you like what he says, fine. If not, fine too; argue back. But no need to call for boycotss, julus and all that tamasha. Tetti ho kura. As for Pire's unsolicited personal advice to Bhagat: "first be successful in his field, acadamic work or whatever it is that he is doing, and then lead his people to prosperity." My comment: Bhagat is a college graduate. He's smart. He's energetic. He's mature. I am sure he knows what he's doing and why. I'd leave it at that. Defending even "unsavory characters" such as Bhagat who have committed no crime MUST LIE at the heart of our democracy strengthening process. Anything else would simply be continuation of prejudices by another name. oohi ashu

yusuf, indeed the madhesi people have been sidelined by the state...but is hatred the way to approach the solution? do you want more violence, more turmoil in the country? it is the time for constructive debate on how to bring the issues of sidelined groups into mainstream politics....yes its time to raise our voices for madhesi people, but not hatred and false propaganda

Madhesis are the highest number of civil servants , temporary or by political apointment category. Their weakness in Nepali language. Bhutanese bhotes speak better nepali than average madhesis. I am not blaming them i am just pointing this thing. Madhesis are the maximum number of students studying in India through Indian Govt or Colombo plan scholarships. They are weak because they try to go the easy way. I havent seen a very good madhesi scholar, engineer or doctor. Hell i havent even seen a good one. Now they say they are sidelined. They are not sidelined, they took that path. P.S.: sorry for using the word madhesi, i was just trying to keep my view point.

The guys is insane, hiding in US and posting all the comments on sensitive issues to make the revolution fail

and indeed, divide and rule is one the strongest weapons of autocrats to strenthen their rule, everywhere in the world ... i am not in a position right now to accuse paramendra as being a royal propagandist, because whatever he posted could also be the outcome of his narrow logic too

I read the article that the starter of this thread got pissed off with. After reading, I can say that Parmendra Bhagat is another power hungry wanna-be-politician. That's why he cited how great he is. However, he does make some sense. I was amused that the so-called democratic movement doesn't seems to be really democratic as it wants the group of people with the same idea. If you want the same sort of people with same sort of idea, and doesn't want to hear the opinion from other group, and try to boycott them; it doesn't remain democratic anymore. Probably, he was right and got mad because medias neglected the protests going on against gyane by madhesi community; he was not even invited in a recent protest rally at NY; and so called democratic-google group doesn't welcome people with different voice. I wonder if he does know about this boycott thread now. LOL. So he represents the voice that needs to be addressed some time. Obviously, the solution can not be achieved by calling the boycott or trying to avoid him, rather than addressing it.

gwajyo, i have explained this already but here i go again, yes its time to adress the madhesi cause ... indeed they have been sidelined ... but here the matter is about paramendras ego ... just cause he was not invited to some "intellectual" gathering doesnot mean he has the right to spread hatred among nepalese people to serve his own purposes ... he is talking as if without him nothin can happen... so what if he was not invited to some gathering? is that a reason to spread hatred? and how does he know he was not invited just coz he was a madhesi ? couldnt it be that paramendra might have overestimated his own "importance" ? and about madhei protest not being covered by media, i am not ready to buy that ... of course, most of the coverage has been KTM (being capital and headquarter of state machinery), but the coverage of madhesi towns has been at par with coverage in other towns of pahadi and mountain region ... that is pure false propaganda bhagat is using to spread antagonism

" .... maybe you misinterpreted me, i donot know ... but let me make my stance clear ITS TIME FOR A UNITED NEPAL!!!! 10 YEARS OF BLOODSHED IS ENOUGH FOR MOTHER NEPAL!! WE DONT NEED MORE BLOODSHED IN THE NAME OF ETHNICITY!!!!
