can be real gud frens. dunno best frens though. i've never seen a gurl n a boy best frens without sum kind of attraction frm either side. i have some real good guy frens...who i know will be there for me n i'll be there for them. ....but when it's the utmost crisis for me .....or sum small everyday things like  cramps or wht ever or a break up or sumthing the first person i turn to is a gurl. yeap

I m really confused . about this matter . For a certain period of time a girl can be ur best friend and then when she becomes so close to u that u cannot do anything without her than you friend status starts to change into attraction and unknowingly u fall in love with your best fren(girl) and when she comes to know about this she's gonna say We were just frens. so  Best frends turns into just frens. So this means it means your best friendship turns into just friendship. So in this situation u need to find a new best friend(girl) and the same cycle starts and so on  and finally one day u will get ur bestfriend/ best girlfriend..............

A guy and a girl can be the best friends only when a guy is a homosexual. However, if a guy is not a homosexual, they can be the best "f*** buddies". No doubt about that.

the damn thing is trust and honesty.If not, its like using u know.  a girl or a guy should have  such requirements like i mentioned earlier play  vital role to be fren even to be a true or best fren atleast.

Its about mutual understanding..if guy and a gal have same kinda feeling toward each other then they can be best frens....

examples:

1) guy and a gal wanna be frens but not attracted to each other (most of the time sexually)

2) guy and gal wanna have sexual relationship but dnt want to be called bf/gf

3) a guy and a gal is homosexual 

the answer, if you ask me, is a big YES. men and women can be best of friends for each other.

but, and this is not a small but mind you, we... men hahahaha...we don't fall short of fantasizing doing it with our best friend (girl) . some might think about it less often than others. tara this stupid thing called physical attraction always comes in between no matter what (as billy crystal says in the movie)....we might not actually do it but we do think about doing it for sure...at some point at some time at some corner :P

coming to think of it, i don't feel there is anything wrong with physical attraction either. :P as long as you remain within the ethical norms (meaning if there is no cheating and all)

OK, what is the definition of 'Best friend' in the context of this discussion ? Do you mean being very close and still avoiding sex or sexual behavior between two parties ? or is sex also included in this 'Best Friend' domain ? Please make it clear first. .. .

If you say being 'close' forever and never into sexual activities ?? Then my answer is .. never never and never.

 A boy and a girl can not remain in a state of 'just a friend' (I prefer it to call  'third state') for a long time. It is unstable state, rather say - a transition state, and soon it will acquire either a state of 'one' or of 'zero'. This is because nature has defined only these two stable states of serious relationship between two opposite sex. You can not go against nature's law which says - nothing in this cosmos can remain in unstable state forever.

And if you try to remain in that 'third unstable state' soon either one or both of you will get into serious emotional and behavioural problem. Any close relationship and trust culminates in the form of sex at the end.. and it is the truth.
