Glad to hear she is safe.I think(only my view) the conditions might have made her to mad.Agreeing with dyamn, not only in USA,in other foreign countries self- pay Nepalese students are very hard.School fee,studies,home-sick,environment etc etc...might be her dissatisfactions.Nepal farkera jau bhane pani testai ta honi hamro society duniya thari bhani halchan.ra Nepal ko condition pani thik chaina.Tesaile unlai tension bhayo, birsin sabai ani hididin mountain tira.Tara US ma yesto garnu bhaneko alikati lajmardo nai ho.Heard that there is freedom and you can do whatever you like.Kina tesai hares khayeko???Anyway.....But I don`t agree that she planned to bring her family to USA.And I don`t think that she should be deported back to nepal. It depends on her decision.Thikai cha Pratishthaji, manche ho galti bhaihalcha..... Good luck for your future.....

The lesson is : Undergrad - unautorized work and money , even in a beautiful place like estes park and Ocean city , MD can be very very stressful for students of Nepal.

It's certainly a complete relief that Pratistha is found safe with no harms. But I am kind of curious about finding the culprit for her behavior. Everybody might be thinking about her age which triggered her to run away. But what about her work environments. Has anyone thought about that?? What about if she got so much pissed due to the different factors such as harassment, inflexible schedule etc with the coworkers and the managers whom she was working with. I am sure Pratistha has the correct answer and I hope one day she will come to Sajha and share some feelings with all of us. But for now, cheers! Bhaskar

I mean if you love your work and have good relationship or the understandable coworkers, quitting and running away just does not exist. It is just my thought that there must be something that has happened with her in the workplace.

This might not apply to the girl. However, they treat Nepali students like poop in workplaces of estes park. They know the circumstances what they're working under, and on the table they always have stack full of job applictions from other Nepalis , and at the door always someone with a familiar accent coming and asking, " are you guys hiring"? unless and until we stop this stupid tradition of coming to usa on undergrad visa, working in gastations , sweet shops and amusement parks like slaves. Our people will dissapear, get killed or worse they won't be heard and spend their youth working like slaves without accomplishing anything.

I am also wondering why people do not come after they have done their Master's or at least Bachelor's in Nepal. That way, not only we can save tons of money and time and of course immeasurable stress accounted from the parttime works, but also there are innumerable opportunities like grad assistantships and research assistantships.

BhaskarNJ, not everyone is as bright as u 2 b awarded scholorships or assistantship. if u r in US... u know by now that everyone.. including foreigners or resident.. all pay for their education...[ either now or later ] ... except if u r amongst those who got a free ride.... So coming after MASTERS or BACHELORS does not SOLVE the PROBLEM.. ... . but its a fact.. if u r here for bachelors then u r here for @ least 4 years of laborous life...... . Let me put it to u... although it is hectic or stressful.. ppl have done very well.. and its all about managing.. ITS NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH U MAKE.. ITS ABOUT HOW MUCH U SAVE or NOT SPEND (O: . but that does not mean U CUT ON BASIC NECESSITIES. WHO R U WORKING SO HARD FOR??? ? URSELF RIGHT.. SO NEED TO TAKE CARE OF URSELF FIRST ..... (O: just my 2 CENTS.... ===================================================== as always what do i know (O:

I DO think euthanasia and the edge are right. I refuse to accept that anyone can be mad enough to run away from the society and not inform a single person and sane enough to check voice mails buy food and a cable car ticket for two people...and even use the internet....give it a thought...don't just fight illogically... All you bunch of moth****ckers are supporting her just because she is a young lady. Now the truth has come out....this must be deliberately done...be it to call your dad or mom or something else. A GUY FROM DALLAS DISAPPERARED LIKE TIS BEFORE BUT NONE OF YOU MOTH*****KERS GAVE A DAMN.... She was not the only Nepali having problems in life. I have seen students working 16 hrs at OC and still happy..even the gals are doing that....No depression can make one so soberly mad like this..give it a thought........ Everyone does dream to call their parents but come on do that with pride and great satisfaction. If this was intended like euthanasia said(I don't insist that it is),this is a cunning not certainly not an ingenious trick...... I think a bunch of people will be barking after my comments but I don't fu***ng care. Just my thought and I will never be convinced any depression or madness will cause tjis to happen.I will not see this thread again. I have sympathy only for those who are struggling to make money to pay to schools and waiting with patience and sober mind for their day to come....

Think twice! Why are y'all using the same ol' formulae used in our Nepalese context? Why didn't the girl confide with anyone around her? This is the complex of Nepalese folks; they can undergo any difficulty but can not simply share the problem and work a way out. What the hell was she doing there out in the mountains? No Nepali has any idea about it. How can y'all sympathize with her? She is all f...ed up in herself.

.Student found 2 weeks after her disappearance Pratistha Budhathoki told cops she left so she could skip work By Felix Doligosa Jr. & Ivan Moreno, Rocky Mountain News July 4, 2006 ESTES PARK - A missing Nepalese exchange student who drank only water and slept on rocks in the wilderness for the past two weeks told police Monday she went away because she didn't want to go to work. Pratistha Budhathoki, 20, was found by police Monday afternoon near the Marys Lake Lodge after a resident recognized her from a missing-person flier, said Cmdr. Wes Kufeld, spokesman for the Estes Park police. The lodge is north of Prospect Mountain, destination of the Estes Park tramway. The resident called police about 1:30 p.m. and told them Budhathoki had run from her door after asking to use the phone, Kufeld said. Budhathoki appeared happy when police arrived and picked her up in a nearby field, he said. "She seemed relieved," said Kufeld, who added that Budhathoki was very hungry. "We fed her right away" food from McDonald's. Budhathoki told police she had gone without food for days and had been sleeping under trees. She said she had been wandering around Prospect Mountain. Budhathoki was reported missing June 19, a day after she failed to show up for her shift at an Estes Park ice cream parlor. Budhathoki was reunited with her parents later in the day at the Estes Park police station. They arrived Monday afternoon in Denver after a 28-hour flight from Nepal then received word that their daughter was safe. "I'm so happy," Budhathoki's mother, Sarita Budhathoki, 43, said in English to reporters gathered Monday night outside the Estes Park Medical Center, where her daughter had been taken for evaluation. "Things like this, when you're a 20-year-old, can happen," she said through a translator. She said her daughter would be staying in Estes Park with her and her father after the medical evaluation. She said her daughter is fine and that it would be up to her whether she returns to St. Cloud State, in Minnesota, where she is studying finance. Sarita Budhathoki said the long plane ride was an agonizing journey as she worried about her daughter's fate and that it wasn't until the second or third phone call telling her that her daughter was safe that she dared to believe it. "We're just extremely happy we found her," Kufeld said. "Our main concern was to get her back safe and sound." "She's crying; she's a little bit skinny right now," said Shiva Shrestha, 28, a friend who said he has known Budhathoki for a couple of years. "It doesn't look like her face is happy." Budhathoki was working two jobs in Estes Park to help pay for school. It was her second summer working in the tourist town. Budhathoki was last seen by friends when she left her apartment June 18 to go to work at the Munchin' House, an ice cream parlor in downtown Estes Park. On June 22, Budhathoki reportedly was seen eating at a deli atop Prospect Mountain, an 8,700-foot peak that overlooks the Estes Valley and borders the southern part of town. Search teams combed the steep slopes of the mountain last week looking for the woman. Budhathoki's work uniform was found neatly folded near the top of the mountain Thursday. Police said throughout the search that they did not suspect foul play in the woman's disappearance. When Sandhya Khakurel was told Monday that her friend had been found, she yelled, "Thank God. It's been killing all of us." A co-worker at the Munchin' House, Avishek Uprety, said he was relieved Budhathoki had been found, but he remains confused as to why she disappeared. Police said they do not plan to file charges against the woman. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4821154,00.html

Alright, everythings over right!!?? well nepalese have this habbit, whenever theres something, big or small the whole crowd piles up and just makes the situation more tensed. GO HOME GUYS, you guys made this girl so popular... Well actually no one can say what actually happened except for her, I take back what i said in my prev post,, that she was trying to get her parents here in us. Some poeple are strong and some are not may be shes falls in the second group. The conclusion from me is that ms budathoki is a "naughty girl".

Ok now everybody ..Shut The Fuc% up!! It was her decision to run away which did hurt lot of people.BUt then again it is her life.If she was my sister , she would get good couple of slaps. But she is not. We do not have rights to judge some one elses daughter or sister. She should get benefit of doubt from all of us and continue to do what ever she wants to do.Next time if she decides to run away we know that we should not make big deal out of it. It is not nice to make joke of a person in public like this. And no i am not supporting her .I just want everybody to let it go and let her live.
