Buying new car first time.....any idea about negotiation and things to be considered before buying? gonna do financing from them only
I am checking in truecar.com and KBB.

Okay !
Who is haggling Who?

The dealer or you?

2016's are already on Invetory , dealer would like 2015's to be out of the Lot.

Before you offer find out the apr you will be paying first. Lets say you offfer 26K, he might jack up on APR.

Do not  rush, Check with other dealer too.

edmunds:
estd MSRP: $30,275

truecar.com:
MSRP: $31,775
Target Price
$29,320

kbb.com:
Out-the-Door Target Price $29,873

local dealer to me: $28K and if I buy today, they will give some more discount (approx $500). That means I might get at $27.5 (not sure though). And its brand new car

@OZAR,MAGORKHE1
Now what you guys say?

Stop calling and going to the dealer, you will get a call. Give a name of other honda dealer near by and trying to negotiate with a specific price and you are leaning toward the other dealer.

Do your research before you go to a dealership and make them an offer. It's not good to keep bargaining all the time. Your becoming more greedy. If the dealer says okay for 27.5, u will start thinking about 27. Just be a man and take a deal. You might pay 1k more on one stuff but pay 2k less in another thing. This is is life, dude so just embrace it. You don't have to get the cheapest deal all the time. Indian people used to this kind of bargaining when I was working at a store during my undergrad. All the store employees hated Indian it and no body wanted Indian people to come to our store.

@Busenitz:
Its not about being greedy. There is huge variation in price among the dealers. As I am buying new car for the first time, I am asking others view dude. I guess no harm to ask others view in sajha and you're free not to comment on post if you dont like it. Its not about loosing or gaining.....its about awareness before doing something new.
I dont know if you're exception but 99% people do some kind of research before doing new things and I know I fall under that 99%.

Car dealers and auto mechanics are butchers. We understand you Busenitz, I suggested not hurrying to bargain soon. But it’s the place where the sales person wants to close the deal before customer steps out, Once the customer is out of lot will not be coming back theory applies like Marwari shows you tons of clothes.
At dealership I do not think there is such thing that you pay 1 k more and may get 2 less in other (may be next purchase?).
It is always better to have the cheapest deal isn’t? Why should not be that person you?

Bargain only once or go to another dealer.

@ sajha keto
Out of curiosity, are you paying cash or financing? If financing, what is the apr that u got? Is it through the dealer or another source? i hope u don't mind answering that.

@Furke,
bought the car finally. Did it financing. I did it from them only and the apr is higher (3.99%) though I got better deal on car. They have given me time of 5 days to pay full (or refinancing). Now, going to apply for refinancing from DCU as I heard that DCU gives 1.49% apr. Once it gets approved, will clear everything from Honda.

Did you not read about the vibration problem the new CRV is having because of the CVT engine?

When buying new Honda or Toyota always ask for 0% APR, i've done this 2 times. Second time i called Honda over the phone asking if they had any new car of my liking, they gave me a price and i told them i am interested only if they offered me 0%APR. The representative told me they dont have that offer right now, so i said fine i got 0% offer from Toyota.
Tell them straight up i will buy the car only if i got 0%APR or i am taking my service to the nearest competitor. As a matter of fact this same tactic worked for my family friend as-well. But you better be a good negotiator, no guarantees but worth a try.

2015 CRV definitely has the vibration problem, I test drove one and noticed it right away. So opted for RAV4.
To replicate the problem, drive the car for around 10 mins, and when the RPM is around 500/600 in idle you notice driver seat and passenger seat vibrating. The one I test drove had the problem.
