what is up with hardly anyone showing up for these concerts headlined by the so called superstars from Nepal?(look at pictures of Navin B's concerts from across the US in ramjham)
Is it because they are poorly organized, or is it because they simply do not have that appeal anymore?

I don't think we can draw that conclusion since not all the photos are posted in ramjham...

It seems the Boston show was a flop. Very few people in the photos. I heard the shows in Oakland, CA and MN had decent turnout.

the concert in Boston was on a monday, so that may have had something to do with it.
But I have also heard the same for other locations, including stopovers in CA, TX, NE and AL to name a few.
This happened to Deepak B, Harish M and Mukti as well, all popular artists----I have a feeling this may be because there are too many shows and thus has lost its appeal, or whoever is promoting these events simply has no clue on how to attract crowds.

I think it is because of RP Entertainment who is the primary agent for this tour. I heard RP Entertainment is from East Coast. I think the artists would have made more money if they had coordinated with the local organizations in each state. When an outsider comes to your state with Nepali artists, local organizations might show resentment and a lot of them along with their supporters don't show up. Just a thought. I could be wrong.

you guys are all right in one way or other. back in the days these types of events were almost all time part of an another event (conventions and such) now they are mostly for commercial purpose. and i think there are very few nepali groups / bands that can reach out to all types of nepali music lovers....the only that comes to my mind is 1974 ad (and nima rumba too somewhat) and those guys are what i would consider true performers which is different from singers. so, i think most of these guys / group in concerts lately are great singers but not very good performers in my humble opinion.

something needs to be done before there is complete audience withdrawal from these events..these are all great artists...maybe not great performers, as was pointed out..but this is not a good sign...if this persists, we will not have anyone willing to come here--the good ones wont...
I am glad others feel the same way.

I am pretty sure that the Nepali concert recently tend to flop big time is because of the exorbitant amount they charge for tickets. For what it's worth here's my take:

$40 is too much for Nepali singers like Nabin Bhattarai or Nima Rumba or even Raju Lama. Personally, I would not pay more than $15 to see those artists. For Deepak Bajracharya, I would pay $20. For bands like Nepathya or 1974 AD, I would pay $25.

Fact is, Nepali concerts have not reached the presentation maturity that approaches the level of even the Indian programs. I think the organizers want to believe that Nepalis will come in droves and shell out mucho dinero just because the performers are Nepalis.

Sure we need to support our artists, but I think economics is what the organizers need to keep in mind. They need to be bit creative themselves.

Concerts used to be packed when there were 1 or 2 concerts a year and sometimes even longer gaps. People just don't like going to concerts frequently. Organizers are treating concerts as a cash making cows and organizing concerts after concerts to make some cash out of it - along with the artists.

It's like the goose that lays goldern eggs you have to wait till its cycle to get the golden egg. Audience will go to 1 or 2 concerts a year, but will get tired of those pretty soon. That's why thesedays concerts are empty.

something has to do with the artists themselves too, I think. They should not accept to show up at every place, and be selective of where they perform. Now that is probably easier said than done, but I recall Nepathya doing this 3 years ago--they only played at the ANA convention in Phoenix, and in DC a week later-- both were played before sizeable crowds. Nima and Raju did the same thing last yr-- they only played in very few select cities along the North east, and Toronto-- they also had some pretty good turnout.
so maybe it is all of the things described in other posts, but maybe some of the blame has to go to the artists themselves, for being 'available' everywhere.
