Do you think that's real? I don't think in Hindu religion, they release the body in the river...Maybe I am wrong, but if its true, that's disgusting.

This has nothing to do with any religion. Do not try to link this with hinduism.

I am surprised to see people being shocked over the video. I thought most people knew about Aghoris and their cannibalistic practices. Anyways, though I do not agree with the methods of these sadhus, I do hope people understand that there is a philosophical reasoning behind eating human meat. Aghoris claim to live life in the simplest form, one that will lead them to mokshya and in order to do that, they give up physical pleasure in all forms. For them, nothing is beautiful or ugly, nothing is good or evil, and nothing is a sin. To prove their point, they resort to committing the most despicable of all acts--eating human flesh. Aghoris believe that human feces is no different from pure water and some eat feces as a part of ritual. It seems like they understood long time ago what Einstein said: that all matter is just a form of energy.

Aghori Baba Aghor is one of the main Indian traditions, which is considered to have been started by Lord Dattatreya. The word Aghor is a combination of two words 'a' and 'ghor' where 'a' means not and 'ghor' means intense or deep. The word symbolises a lifestyle where a person of the Aghor tradition does not have any intense feelings of affection, hatred, love, jealousy, greed and other worldly feelings .He is indifferent to all these feelings. He does not differentiate and discriminate between any of these feelings .A person who follows this path is called an Aghori. Aghoris seem to follow a path, which is strikingly opposite to that of ideal Hinduism. They take liquor, eat flesh and utter obscenities, meditate at night and have uninhibited sex. All this makes one believe that they are uncultured Hindus but that is incorrect. Aghoris also believe in Hinduism's fundamental reality of Moksha i.e. salvation .For them it is the unification of the self with the supreme consciousness.Aghoris are one of the most controversial of Hindu holy men .They are known to possess magical powers. Stories of Aghoris curing people suffering from serious diseases are common in the Indian villages. Their powers at awakening the dead are also talked about by people. Even in India the word 'Aghori' cannot be used freely without drawing suspicion on peoples faces.
