I bumped my front teeth into car window few months back...since then, it hurts time and again. The gums swell once in a while and the pain is excruciating. I guess the root of the teeth is dislocated or something since the teeth is slightly off its location. Going to dentist is very expensive in US so can any expert suggest me any home remedies? any ideas would be profoundly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Hi Gedagudi,
I am not 100 percent sure but reading your symptoms, I feel that trauma few months back may have cause your tooth to die...... ( Tooth has pulp internally that contains nerves, blood vessels and different types of cells). The dead pulp may have cause some change in the inner end of tooth (periapical area of tooth) so you may be developing gum swelling and tooth may discolor in near future due to dead pulp. If thats the case than the best treatment is to do root canal treatment and save the tooth. I do not think any home remedy or pain medication will be long term or best treatment. If you are in Boston area, than I go to Boston University Dental School. As per the School rules and regulation I can not offer you free treatment but the school rate is very cheap in comparative to any other private dental clinic. Bumped tooth This causes trauma to the ligaments and nerve supply. Your symptoms suggests that the nerve has been severely effected, as you mentioned the tooth is off position too. This means the nerve inside is dying. The swelling in gum also directs to same conclusion. The tooth will go darker in long run. Best short term remedy Antibiotic therapy (Penicillin and/or Metronidizole works best) Long term remedy Possible root canal treatment followed by Crown placed on top
Problem with teeth does not goes away without being treated... so find a dentist.... I guess as suggested before... dental schools are cheaper than other !!!
(P.S. This suggestion is purely based on the symptoms reading, PLEASE consult professional before you do anything)

Hi Nepali Ko Sathe,
I am not the first Nepali to enter Dental School in US nor the first one in BU. Many Nepali students have graduated from many Dental School in US in couple of years and many are enrolled at present but its not easy and cheap nor is it impossible. When there is a will, there is a way. Tell your brother to email me, if he needs any help regarding Dental School.
