Bostongirl,
Is the problem about not having a company or not being able to travel alone?

If it is latter, I think you can buy a ticket for a slightly higher price and the airline will do the rest of the transit duty...

Bibas, she has travelled before, but only to India. I am just a worried daughter... she might get lost or confused coming all the way to US. I will feel much better if I knew she was not alone.

Hey, bostongirl , I am sure there are lot of Nepali travelling out to US, she will talk to some other nepali who will be travelling with her and will help her, I am sure, don't worry. Although I do understand how you may feel.
She will find a way, and I wish your mother a safe journey, any way.

Cheer up. :)

Hi bosotongilr, one idea would be to talk to the TICKET OUNTER ppl from where she got ticket, and get contact of the ppl travelling by same flight. I know one of my fren's old father came London in same way. Im sure there are many good ppl flying in same plane.

Lucky u, u can meet your MOM........and Happy Tihar.....

------------
P.S. if she has travelled alone in India, then its not big deal......i think she speaks Eng.

Boston girl,
As I said before, if she is not confident that she can make it through the international airports, it is a better idea to pay a premium and get the airline arrange for the trouble of changing airlines.
So, ask her to contact the ticketing agency to do the needful for passengers with special needs.

This is, however, the last resort.

Bostongirl, If she speaks (some) English, then she should be fine. But, if she doesn't, then it is better you find someone who she can accompany. My mom doesn't speak English and she had a lot of problem when she came here.

There is a thing called "Meet-and-Assist" that the airlines provide; you may want to request for that service. That will not cost extra. Also, since she is flying from Nepal, you can have your mom or someone there request the travel agency she brought the ticket from to find if there are other Nepalis flying to the same destination.

I bet you can't wait to see your mom! Good luck!

I think she is coming here by next week or so. I am gonna go ahead and get that 'meet and assist' service that Slackdemic is talking about. Last thing you want her to go through is get stranded in the airport.

This is the latest news, she is leaving KTM this sunday, 22nd october. She stopping over in London and then to Boston. Anyone else travelling the same day? If not...she will have to fend for herself...so much for spur of the moment decision!
