Dutchess resident Soledad O'Brien loses CNN anchor slot

CNN has replaced Pawling resident Soledad O'Brien and Miles O’Brien, co-anchors of “American Morning,” according to a report by McClatchy-Tribune.
Both are expected to stay at CNN. Their replacements will be CNN’s John Roberts, 50, a Canadian CBS alum, and Nepal-born Kiran Chetry, 32, recently hired from Fox News Channel.
Soledad O'Brien, 40, and Miles O'Brien, 47, who are not related, debuted on “Morning” in June 2005. The change is being attributed to sinking ratings.
Soledad O'Brien spoke at a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina victims in December at the Bonefish Grill in Poughkeepsie.

well guys it's great that nepal's name has been attached with sth positive (which is kind of rare and that I believe that as Nepalese we should be proud of) Well she is hot,,elegant,,and of course with brains,, Anyway it's your individual right to think whatever you feel,,it just shows how each individual is,,of course some of us neither can do sth good that would make his/her people proud,,nor can be happy with anyone around us doing sth good.. nothing wrong with that,,it's in our nature,,( like Nepali Congress, UML and whoever else)..

I know there are other asian anchors in CNN,,like betty nguyen,,who apart from being a TV anchor also honors other events in favor of asian culture,,and I know people from her community who are proud of her for what she has attained rather than displaying a typical taliban attitude.. So why cant we speak a few positive words and be happy that a Nepalese lady made it there,,and attained a position that even americans would die for..

Well, i somewhat agree with Borntobewild . Initially, when i knew bout her, i was really impressed with the job she is carrying out, of course being a nepali but i think with the resources and position she has right now she can contribute towards to our economical, political or even educational condition if she is ever interested in working for her birthplace country. I agree that she is doing great over here in States but she should realize that Nepal needs her more than America. America is full of people like her. But no offense to her...................she is doing her job greatly here in America. However, she can do better.

Anyway, feels good to know that Nepali are actually evolving out now. These people could be good inspiration for newcomers. Keep up good work.

Not very long back, there was some news on Whoopi Goldberg’ connection with Guinea-Bissau, a small West African country as big as Maryland. The news might have been senseless topics for many gossipers, but that ended up helpful for that relatively unknown African nation. Person like me who had no clue on Guinea-Bissau now know there is such a country. People also came to know about political, social, economical conditions of that country.
Kiran Chetri might not have a celebrity stature of the size of Whoopi Goldberg, but one can feel her presence these days. She is attractive, and a likable host but with an unusual name. So the televisions viewers might be interested to know more about her. In the process, they will come to know about nepali people, Kathmandu and above all Nepal. Thanks to Kiran Chetri!
From her side the best possible mark of respect for the Nepali community would be to make public her connection with Nepal, and she does that and it matters a lot for us at this moment. When the country is in complete mess and has to deal with very abnormal situation of terrorists as the decision-making body, every bit of introduction of Nepal before the world community will surely be helpful in due course of Nepal’ political existence. Thanks to Kiran again.
