Avii, If you want to track the source of an email, the most important thing is to have a mail reader that can show you the full headers of an email in question. If you use yahoo or gmail, you can see the full header of the email. In the header, check the section "Received" which should give you the rough idea from where the email was sent. If you want to track the emails you sent to others, try readnotify. http://www.readnotify.com/ It's free and you can even track when your email was opened, where it was forwarded to.

if its not from a real hacker, spammer, the sender's IP address should be there in Header of the email. Once you have the IP address go to http://psacake.com/web/eg.asp, enter the IP and press Lookup. If the IP is from different regions, it will again give you another URL to look up IP if not the company the IP belongs to should be there... hope this helps.

err, instead of doing all that, just look in your headers. All services provide headers from origination to all the hops it takes to get to your destination. Just look at the options menu, and show all headers. If you use hotmail click options on top right, click message display and click advanced on headers. yahoo should have the same way. it will show you Xoriginating IP. Take that IP, go to arin.net, and put that IP on search WHOIS, it should give you all the info you need.
