I need to sponsor a person from Nepal who got DV lottery, recently. I have no idea what kind of format they required. Any sample letter or any kind of suggestion how to write a sponsor letter would be appreciated. Thank you

These days you dont need sponsor letter. They need welcome letter from a person already in US. The visa status of the welcoming person can be anything I guess. I am pretty sure that they dont need sponsor now. When I came I had to pay a lot of money. This was a sort of business then....its good now. The letter that u need to write is very simple. Stuff that u know him/her,,,,then u would welcome him/her, and then relation,,,friend /family etc......that should be enough. U should show ur willingness to help them settle in your area..... hope this helps

If you are an american citizen or a permanent resident and you have income more than the amout needed by the poverty guideline for the total number of persons in your family and the family of the person you are sponsoring, download the form 1-134 and follow instructions in that form. That form is actually sponsor letter for the DV winner. If you are not either a citizer or perm resident then you can not fill up that form. In that case you can just write a plain letter mentioning that you are ready to provide the required accomodation for the person or family until they get job. Send your proof of income, address and phone number as well. Hope this helps.

Folks, I know a guy who came with out a sponsor letter back in 2002. He was 19 years old dude and was preety smart as well. I heard he lives in Colorado area and goes to school but on the other hand i also met a guy with sponsor letter and stillw was denied visa with DV lottery,This guy came to pick up his document and I asked him what was the reason and he said his sponsor didn't have enough money in the bank account. So the thing is it all depends on their (consular) mood. It might be a cause to denial as well (if you don't have a sponsor letter) so there is always good to have I -134 form filled out and sent to them, Just to be on safe side. hope this helps

Mike Bibby, DV is something that one has won, it doesnot depend on the mood of the counselor. If u are a high school graduate , they cannot deny you, they can ask you to reschedule the appointment and get a better financial document. They go by the case number and ya your turn might now come , visa number might be finished before it comes to your's . So one should consider the case number too. If its far behind , say 20,000 there is little chance.

mike is right. I fully agree that visa depends upon the counsellor's mood if it is anything other then DV. LIke say student visa, tourist visa, business visa all depends upon counsellor's mood. But for DV, the case is different. Counsellor cant' deny the visa if the person has good experience for work and have a good academic qualification. He cant' deny whom American government have choosed themself. But he is there just to see whther all the documents sent by him were fake or are true. In other words, he is just doing the inspection of knowing whether that was all true or lie. That's it!! comments are most welcomed.

mike bibby , I know more than you do. I have gone through all these process. Dipressed face, frustation and bad english are not the criteria at all. You can opt to take the interview in Nepali. Dude you need to grow up a bit, you are still a kid I guess. Keep your freaking words within yourself okay.

mike bibby, you are an absolute a$$ hOle. For your kind information , I came to US from DV few years back. What the hell you mean," yup yupping" in sajha. Guys like you are piece of S Hit in sajha. You should learn how to do discussions. I would strongly suggest you to go to school and learn good moral values. Your words tells everything about you. Learn good values in life man. You asked me to stay in the line there in the Embassy for hours. dude let me tell you, I there in the line from 6 hours in the embassy for the Embassy. You said they treat you badly. My answer in no they dont treat badly. They might have treated you badly , I understand because of your nature. Al last, I feel pity for thus guy mike bibby.God teach him good values in life . Alas! a fellow Nepali!!!!!
