Will there be any problem if I bring about $2000 in cash?

i dont think that would be a problem... but i am not sure if its wise to bring that cash..why dont u bring it on TC's or maybe draft or something...

reagarding bringing money to US, if someone needs to bring more than $2000 lets say $7000 for something like medical treatment, how would you do that? will the customs at airports allow that if you have letter from a doctor in US?
any ideas?

You can give the money in Nepal and get cash here in USA. IF you trust yourself and the other. I did not see in you.

No body will check how much money you have with you even in the customs. So its a matter of how much money you can exchange in dollars (legally Nepal government will let u exchange what u have to pay to your college for a semester and 1,500 extra from your passport. The rest dollar u will have to buy illegally from Thamel, not a big deal though). But convert the money in travelers check...easy to carry and less risky. dont carry more than few hundred dollars in cash. U can easliy convert the travelers check in bank and the bank wont ask you about where u got the money. So bring whatever u can...just watch the people around at airport, plane and transit.

SYAKUURIOLAKU_NCHIMB .... if you really have medical problem, u come to a college here, buy college insurance (usually like $500 for a year) and get treatment through the insurance. If u dont have an insurance and visit a doctor, you will be screwed. One of my friends had to stay in the hospital for 5 days due to jaundice and the bill was like $70,000..thanks he had insurance.
But if this just an excuse to bring more money, just make travelers check...no body will check u for how much money u bring in America.

How do people usually send money from Nepal to the US? Does bank draft sent works here even if the issuing and accepting banks are not in a joint venture relationship? or are there other means as well? Suggestions highly appreciated.Thanx.
